Stampin' Up

Number of Years, Stampin Up

Hi Stamping friends! Hope you’re enjoying this beautiful weather, it inspired my spring cards. I actually started this card set with the #2 card. They are all essentially variations of the same card, so I will give instructions, and let you know what the variation is once we get to that point.

#2 I started this card for my brother’s wedding anniversary card( hope he isn’t reading this:-0). I wanted to make a pretty but natural looking card, since that is their style.

I used Very Vanilla as the base on all these cards, two I made lengthwise and one horizontal. Th measurements are the same only cut differently. For a vertical(picture)card, you will need a half sheet of Very Vanilla 11″ by 4 1/4″, scored at 5 1/2″. For a horizontal( landscape) card you will need a half sheet of Very Vanilla 8 1/2″ by 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″. Also a second piece of Very Vanilla for each card you are going to make cut at 5 1/4″ by 4″(this will be the piece where you stamp your flowers), and a scrap piece if you want to punch out a sentiment and place on your card as well.

Instead of using ink pads full on, I colored in the stamps with my Stampin’ Write markers. Leaves in Mint Macaron, flowers in Watermelon Wonder. You’ll notice on that card(or maybe now that I’m pointing it out) that I colored a few of the leaves in Watermelon Wonder. I actually thought those were flowers until I had stamped them. I think they still look really cute and it doesn’t detract from the card even with the added roses…… On my other two cards, they are all leaves:). If you are unfamiliar with using markers to color, you color on the stamp, usually holding the marker sideways as to not color in things you may want in a different color. Once you add all your colors, you “huff” or exhale onto to stamp to re-wet the ink and then stamp. I did it twice at most, since as you see the colors lighten up significantly. I does give a really light and airy look to the images. I did this multiple times and stamped “off” the card to give a peeking look to the images. With the tone on tone cards, I tend to avoid dimensionals and just use them for the sentiment part, but you could do a raised layer if you’d like. I finished by stamping my sentiment in Soft Suede and punching it out with the decorative label punch. I then punched another piece of Soft Suede paper with the decorative label punch and cut it in half lengthwise added glue dots and lined them up to give some extra dimension. If you do it just right it matches up, otherwise you might have a tiny bit of excess you need to trim. I then popped the whole sentiment up on dimensionals.

On cards #1 & 3, I stamped the image with the ink pads,as you can tell the ink is much darker. The card measurements are all the same as above. I did however stamp the sentiment direct to card on #1 and added a jewel rhinestone at the heart. Also added another little flower stamped in Pool Party. I added a few little leaves and the little blue flowers on the inside bottom of the card to punch it up a notch.

On #3, I stamped the sentiment onto a 2 1/2″ circle punch and was intending to put the 2 3/8″ scallop punch behind it( not sure why this made sense in my head), but obviously that scallop is SMALLER(DUH!)than the circle. Since I already punched it(paper hoarder, remember) I sponged the edge of the circle and put the scallop behind it, in an Oh so artsy fashion, up onto a dimensional and done! I’m a dork , I know it!

But I did save the card, and for me that’s a win.
