First Sight, Stampin’ Up

Once upon a time…..isn’t that how the story begins?
I do believe in love at first sight, especially now that I am a mother. I fell so deeply in love with my son the first time I saw him on an ultrasound, although I didn’t know he was a son at the time. Deeper so when I first looked into his gray blue eyes, like he had seen me forever, but in a different way. It’s tough to explain, but if you’re a mom, I imagine you’re nodding along with me right now. It is a love that is tough, sometimes unreciprocated as he fights 2 year old battles with me. Sometimes it makes us both cry, but at quiet times, when he makes up stories aloud to himself, or when he sings himself awake in the morning, those moments are the ones that make it all worthwhile, every tear, fight and hard time. I hold tight to those little sounds in my heart, for the hard times that will come as he grows. These also have given me a new appreciation for my own mother as I have learned the hard way to deal with my struggles. I have lost her in the past year and I miss her more than I could’ve imagined. It is only now , being a parent, for me that life has come full circle. I understand and appreciate all the selflessness that goes along with being a parent. I wouldn’t trade it for the world though.

This card would make a beautiful Mother’s Day card. There is a more “motherly” sentiment in the set as well, but as I think about it, our mother’s and we are Kindred Spirits. Maybe you just need the perspective to understand. It is also a beautiful card to send to one of your best friends, maybe even at Mother’s Day to tell her that: you understand how hard it is,love her anyway and want to give her spirit a boost!

The measurements on these cards are the same, I just used different colors for each.

Base card: 5 1/2″ by 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″(Night of Navy or Perfect Plum)

Layer: 5 3/8″ by 4 1/8′ (Whisper White)

Banner layers: 2 1/2″ to  2 3/4″ by about 3 1/4″, you can flag the ends with Paper Snips or the 1 1/4″ Square Punch if you happen to own it.

I added the Fancy Flower Punch in Perfect Plum, or the 2″ Circle Punch in Night of Navy, and a 1″ Circle Punch in Whisper White.

Also a little bow in Whisper White 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon.

Hope your Spring is SpRinGiNG!!!  🙂
