BLOG HOP! Camping Under the Stars, Stampin’ Up

Hi stampin’ and crafting friends……How was your first day of summer? If this card set doesn’t make you yearn for the great outdoors, (or GLAMPING if you prefer ;-)), then I don’t know what else will. It is so very FUN to work with, and this was one of the sets on my MUST HAVE FIRST order list.

So to start, what I have done with the cards I have made, is to cut  the mountain and tree thinlits near the bottom of the card stock pieces  to create the “grass” area underneath. I know in the catalog, they show you that they use larger layers of card bases, and layer them one on top of another , which is another great option. However, I seem to think much differently when I create or construct my cards, and I think I came up with a totally unique view……

Also upon first making this card, I didn’t even realize you could make it into a nighttime style card, which is such a huge bonus to me……a great camp-out, fireside chat feel, do you agree?

This card has a base of Basic Black , measuring  5 1/2″ by 4 1/4″,  a layer of Night of Navy measuring 5 1/4″ by 4″. I used Versamark and White Embossing powder to make the stars really pop. I cut the mountains out of Crumb Cake, with Whisper White snow capped tops. The tent is also in Crumb Cake, with the coordinating image stamped in Chocolate Chip ink. The trees and grass are cut from Always Artichoke, and Wild Wasabi. I  did the clouds, fire, moon, and bear on Whisper White. I used Crumb Cake ink on the bear, Night of Navy to outline the clouds, Crushed Curry for the moon, and Soft Suede, Real Red, and Pumpkin Pie inks to create the fire. The lake was done in Island Indigo, then fussy cut. I used lots of dimensionals to give depth and a true to life feeling on this super cool card. I used Always Artichoke to stamp the wooden post sign, and greeting on the inside, and the Always Artichoke and Chocolate Chip Stampin’ Write markers, to add a little grass and dirt underneath.

It was a great challenge for me to think outside of the box. More so to not use ALL of the things on the stamp set and thinlits at once :-0. This is going to be a card you see VERY often as the summer, and even fall progress, so you are going to want to add it to your wish list too!
