Cute little treat box, Stampin’ Up!

Hi stampers! Now for something a little out of the box…..I’m a dork, already well aware 🙂 This idea came to me from a recent jewelry party I went to , and when I got my order, it dawned on me. This would be such a sweet little gift box, however the box I had was much larger, and I am sure you could make a bigger one, but I wanted to stick with 12 x 12 card stock. It took me a few tries to get it just how I liked it, and also simple to open and slide back in. Also I wanted it to fit snugly, but not rip on the way in and out. I hope you’ll give this a go. It was quite fun to decorate, and I cannot wait to see someones face when I give it to them…..then say I made it myself!! There really is such satisfaction in knowing you created a unique gift or card or little something for someone, it just makes me smile.

Ok, on to the measurements. Now I will tell you there are two different ways to measure. I will illustrate in the photos below how to do the Stampin’ Trimmer cuts. You can modify to the Simply Scored if you find it easier. I will say I prefer the Trimmer version myself, but that’s because I am not as great at math as I once was. My friends will attest to that!

Stampin’ Trimmer measurements:

You will take a 12 x 12 piece of card stock, and cut it at 6 1/2″, put it aside, then trim a 3″ piece off as well.

full sheet 12/12 cut

The remaining piece you can use to cut flowers from, or save for another project.Starting with the 6 1/2″ by 12″ piece up and down (12″ side sticking out of trimmer top) score with the scoring blade at 2 3/4″, then move that score mark to the 2 3/4″ and score again, continue doing this until you have no card left. You will have 4 marks.

Then turn it to the long side( 12″across trimmer blade section) and score at 2 1/4″, then move that score mark to 13/16″ measurement( about two dashes before the 1″) and score again, then move that score mark to the 2 3/4″ mark and score again, the score once more at about 3/4″. ( This last score is the flap, so however long it is will be fine)

You will now fold and use the bone folder to reinforce your folds. Then trim out the extra pieces.

X means trash
extras removed
trimmed and angle cut to fold a bit nicer

You will only need adhesive on the little tab to hook it to the longer strip. ( Main Box)

Now fold the outer sleeve and reinforce the folds again, you will add a strip of your choice of adhesive and make an open sleeve to side the box into . ( Sleeve)
