Well as most of you (well the two of you anyway 😏), have noticed…. Hee hee, I have a lot of new hostess sets! I really love the sentiments in Lovely, but adore the entire Thoughts set. It’s so beautiful and versatile. Congrats, sympathy, cheer you up, endless possibilities really! I’ve always wanted a hydrangea stamp and the words and font of this set…. OH! Just gorgeous…..
Alrighty , on to the cards. I did this three different ways and I could’ve done 10 more (at least)
On all the cards, I used the black archival ink to stamp the hydrangea, butterfly and most sentiments. With the exception of Tip Top Taupe for the circle stamp and the “my friend” done in Cucumber Crush.
All the card bases are 4 1/4″ by 11″, scored at 5 1/2″ and each interior has a Whisper White piece 4″ by 5 1/4″ and a second piece for the front panel stamp.
On #1, the Lost Lagoon card, I stamped in black Archival ink and stamped off to one side slightly. Filled the flowers in with a Mint Macaron marker, blended it with the blender pen and outlined with a Lost Lagoon marker and blended the outlined color in to smooth the flower out. i repeated on the leaves and stem with a Pear Pizzazz marker on the inside and outlined the leaf with a Mossy Meadow marker, and again blended. Just a note when coloring on Whisper White with the markers and blender pens, you should go light with your hand, this paper is not as sturdy as the thick Whisper White card stock and most definitely not as strong as watercolor paper, but still entirely doable……just take your time and be easy on yourself. It just takes practice and patience and I do love how crisp the Whisper White paper is against a marker-ed foreground! I finished with the sentiment in archival black.
So classic!
On #2, the Blackberry bliss card, this was actually done on watercolor and Whisper White paper, I stamped again the flower in black onto the Whisper White, then again on a scrap(big enough to fit) piece of watercolor paper. I filled in the edges of the Whisper White piece with the coordinating marker so you wouldn’t see harsh edges since the other image will be trimmed and popped up onto dimensionals. You don’t need to go to far from the edges about 1/4″ to 1/2 “, you can do more it certainly won’t hurt , just a waste of time since the water coloring is more fun in my opinion! I filled up my aqua painter with tap water, smooshed my ink pad onto the lid to make a pool of color and dipped the brush into the pool. You’ll want to do the outlined areas and darker shaded areas with your first dab since it’s darker and just blend out, you can dilute with more water as you choose and when you move to another color, just squeeze out some water onto a paper towel or rag, to clear out your current color. Finish up and let your image dry ( if you’re in a hurry, you could always use the heat gun to dry it ). Also one quick tip when you color your flower, go outside the lines so you don’t have a harsh white edge once you trim out your flower. Then you will want to fussy cut your flower with the paper snips, they have tiny snips to get those little spots(again a little practice make perfect). I popped it up on dimensionals and stamped my sentiment in Cucumber Crush. Add your Whisper White and punched circle to the inside and …..D.O.N.E.! :)…..OK, confession time, I totally thought that little” you’re a whole lot of lovely” circle would look cute on the front. That was my original intended spot, but I did not like it …. AT ALL! So, since I had managed to punch the circle out pretty close to the edge, i decided to save it ( I’m a paper hoarder, remember?) and put the white inside, and popped the circle up on a dimensional too……looks pretty good, for a goof up I think!
On #3, the Watermelon Wonder card, before I start, I would HIGHLY suggest stamping a hydrangea and fussy cutting it out, doesn’t matter on what color paper, but I think this card would have been even more beautiful if the layers were not able to be seen overlapping. Now I know in real life flowers do their own thing, but if you have the time and want to make it a little nicer, give it a try……Ok back to reality, I stamped the flower in black in a few different positions and used a Pink Pirouette(lightest) marker and a Watermelon Wonder(edges)marker, for the flowers. Then a Pear Pizzazz marker inside, and an Old Olive marker for the outline of the leaves. Again, delicate hand since this is on regular old Whisper White card stock. The sentiment stamped in black and I stamped the butterfly on a scrap piece, colored in with Hello Honey and Tangelo Twist markers and fussy cut it out. I popped the butterfly up on a dimensional as well. I attached the Whisper White (3 3/4″” by 5 “) onto a Watermelon Wonder piece( 4″ by 5 1/4”) and finally adhered to a Basic Black card base. Add Whisper White to the inside as well.
So a few things: you could do these in so many colors, i think the black card stock on #3 really pops the colors, and the possibilities are really unlimited with the sentiment….or as a few ladies I know do….leave it blank until you decide who you’re going to send it to!
Make someones day……you have all these great cards, get your hiney to the Post Office and stock up on stamps! (The other kind;-D)
ENJOY!!
