Christmas blog hop, Stampin’ Up! November

Hi Stampers!

Welcome to our Stamp It Group CHRISTMAS Blog Hop!!

I hope you will come away with so much inspiration and so many ideas, you forget to do your chores today 🙂

The project I designed today is actually one I just recently pulled out and decided I would redo it again, but until late yesterday , I had no idea I would use it for this blog hop.

It is so simple, fun and easy to create I figured it would be a huge hit to make for so many people in out lives. Especially at this giving time of year, when little things mean so much more than we know.

These would be super gift to give to your kids teachers, your daycare people, mom friends at school…..the list could go on and on. Lots of people might really want to give a little thank you note but not have the time or energy to get or make one, so you could save the day by gifting them this little box of goodies.

Its a simple design, you need a fun 8 1/2″ by 11″ piece of card stock. I would suggest using Thick Whisper White or Thick Very Vanilla as they are quite sturdy and will score and hold shape so well.

Then you can decorate with your choice of Designer Series Paper, or even some thinlits or edgelits as I have shown in the many examples.

You can also make the cards as simple or intricate as you’d like. You can decorate the fronts with 2 3/4″ square pieces of DSP, strips of Washi Tape, a Sentiment punched out and layered on another larger Punch, and so many more.

I hope you’ll give them a try and don’t be like me, give them out and share with someone you love and appreciate this holiday season!

Make sure to leave a comment along with #stampitcontest to be entered to win!

Measurements:

On the 8 1/2″ side, score at 1″ on each end

On the 11″ side, score at 1″ and 4″ on each side, you will end up with a 1″ score in the center if you do it correctly.

DSP Layers:

For the top of the box, you will need a piece of DSP measuring 3 7/8″ by 6 3/8″, two of each measuring 3/8″ by 6 3/8″ and 3/8″ by 3 7/8″ for the long front layers and two side layers.

The rest is up to you.

You could stamp a sentiment on Whisper White and punch it out with the 2″ Circle Punch, then punch a Starburst circle with Copper, Silver or Gold Foil paper. Make sure you give it some flair by tying a length of ribbon to hold it closed and add a small bow. Make it just loose enough that they can slide it off and back on and add some sparkle with the Silver Sequin trim.

Make it more rustic by adding Burlap Ribbon, a bow made of Copper Trim and then finish it by wrapping a Boxwood Wreath around the bows.

They may not even want to open it……but they will 🙂

Until next time,

Stay Crafty

XO Rach

2017-19 In Colors, Annual Catalog, Birthday cards, Brights Collection, Stampin' Up

No bones About it, Stampin’ Up!

Hi stampers!

I created this awesomely fierce birthday card, for my incredible nephew Emmett!

This was so fun to make and it’s super easy to change to any color or theme that you want since it’s a photopolymer set! You can line the bones right up, or stamp the bones first and then the bodies, OR just bones or just bodies!

Also the added footprints, foliage and rocks will make this card a hit for any of your little buddies!

The sentiments are really unique and well themed!

I’ve made this card many times before and did a really fun girly version and another using just the outlines and then I added fussy cut party hats to finish it off.

This time I embossing the greeting using Memento Black ink and Clear Embossing powder.

Another fun idea would be to make it in various shades of browns and use it like an old map, or a dirt covered relic! I’ll

Have to give those to ideas a try as well.

Until next time,

Stay Crafty

Scalloped Tag Topper Treat Holders, Stampin’ Up!

Hi Stampers!

Today I am sharing these super simple and cute treat holders you can create for many little gifts this holiday season!

You could use any Designer Series Paper for this project, but I have to say the Christmas Around the World DSP is one of my ALL TIME FAVS! It is also great since you can use the scraps and cut out little pieces to decorate your treat holder, a two for one in my opinion.

I will give measurements for both of them, but if you have a larger treat, all you need to do is to make your flaps a bit longer and you can always make the base a bit wider too to accommodate any treat!

Also, be sure if you haven’t already to sign up for my Holiday Helper emails, it will give you 13 Holiday ideas of cute cards and treat holders just like these to knock out your Christmas gift list in no time! I need your email address and name sent to Rachthestamper@gmail.com.

#1 Tic Tac Holder

Start with a piece of DSP measuring 7 5/8″ by 3 1/8″, on the 7 5/8″ side, score at 3 3/8″ on each side by scoring and then rotating the card stock 90* and repeating the score. Then on the 3 1/8″ side, score at 1/2″ on each side again by scoring and then rotating 90* and scoring.

Below is  a step by step photo template

1)

2)

3)

4)

Below is  a photo template so you know what the trimmed holder should look like prior to adding Fast Fuse (FF).

#2 York Peppermint Patty Holder

Start with a piece of DSP measuring 1 15/16″ by 7″, on the 7″ side, score at 3 1/8″ on each side by turning the card stock piece around 90*, it will make a more even treat holder.

Below is  a photo template so you know what the trimmed holder should look like, then just use the Scallop Tag Topper punch at each end, and add ribbon to hold closed.

Spotlight Stamping Technique with a Partial Die Cut for Christmas, Stampin’ Up!

Hi Stampers! This is a new to me technique, and I am calling git Spotlight Stamping with or without Partial Diecutting, which means you cut about half of the image and leave the rest connected. It will give you a whole new way to use your thinlits, framelits and even edgelits!

I saw this technique on a video by a woman I truly admire for her extremely creative abilities, her name is Jennifer McGuire. She does absolutely incredible creations.

The idea with this technique, is that you can achieve it with just stamps or add dies to cut out part of your image and then it will give your card a fun feel because  of the unique angles your card stock is cut to, PLUS you can virtually guarantee each card will be unique depending on where you cut .

I hope you’ll give this a try and let me know what creations you come up with as well!

I used the Night in Bethlehem bundle and the Eastern Palace bundle for these two beauties, what will you create today?

Until next time,

Stay Crafty

Stampin' Up

Wax Paper technique, Stampin’ Up!

Hi Stampers!

This fun technique is a new revival of an old favorite 🙂

You will need some wax paper ( nothing fancy, cheap is fine), an old tea towel, an Iron set  around low/medium heat setting ( depends on the age and model of your iron, just warm enough to melt the wax to transfer) and Stampin’ Up! Glossy card stock that has FINALLY made its return 😀

The amount of wax transferred will depend on how hard and with you crinkle your wax paper into a ball. So a tighter ball will result in smaller wax patches, a looser gentler formed ball will have larger wax patches.

The cool thing about this is NO TWO cards will ever be the same.

You can turn your iron on and then set up. You will want a 4 1/4″ by 5 /12″ piece of Glossy card stock to start and then you can go from there once you prefect your technique. Lay your tea towel open onto and ironing board, lay the glossy card stock glossy side up, lay the crumpled wax paper on top, fold the tea towel over to cover it all and then iron all over this “sandwich”. You can hold still in spots to warm the wax, but keep it moving enough to not scorch your towel. Peek in every once in a while to see if you have your iron hot enough. When all the wax has transferred to your liking, then you’ll move on to step two.

Now you can use your sponge brayer, sponge daubers, or regular stampin sponges to add ink color. Add ink and then wipe the excess off with a paper towel. You can keep adding and wiping until you get a desired finish.

I finished this particular card by adding “Happy Birthday” with Silver Foil paper adhered with the Mulitpurpose Adhesive sheets. They are a breeze to use, you simply add them to the back of whatever card stock you want to adhere. For this one I used the Silver Foil, then cut it using the Happy Birthday thinlit with the Big Shot. Remove the backing and adhere directly to the wax paper layer we created. I added this panel to a 4 1/4″ by 11″ (scored at  5 1 /2″) piece of Fresh Fig card stock.

Then we did another wax paper sheet using Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green inks and I cut out the stocking using the Trim Your Stocking thinlits dies set. I added some Silver Foil paper to the toe, heel and top for added sparkle. I also added a from Santa tag from the Oh, What Fun photopolymer stamp set.

Hope you will give the fun old technique a try, who says old dogs can’t teach young pups new tricks 🙂

Until next time,

Stay Crafty

Stampin' Up

Thanksgiving blog hop, Stampin’ Up!

Hi Stampers! Hope you all are doing well. Welcome to my Team Stamp It Blog Hop 🙂

If this is your first stop….thanks for coming by. If you stopped on the way from someones blog project, thanks for joining and keep on going for lots more inspiration.

This card features the NEW Stampin’ Blends which will be available for everyone to order on November 1st, 2017.

I stamped the Vintage leaves in Memento ink onto a 3 3/4″ by 4 1/2″ piece of Vellum.

I stamped the images in a random pattern, and then waited for the ink to dry. I then flipped the card over and colored the leaves in with the Stampin’ Blends. I was then going to let it dry and flip it back to adhere it, but I left it blends side up, which means the  Memento ink would be stamped onto the other side. I hope that makes sense the way I explained it. If not please let me know and I will do a video to show you sooner than later.

After I filled in the leaves, I thought it would be cool to add in some color in the blank space with the Stampin’ Blends, and I think it turned out really well.

I was going for a less is more with this card and just layered it onto a 4″ by 4 3/4″ piece of Whisper White to help the colors show through better.

I then added that to a Garden Green layer measuring 4 2/8″ by 5″, and finally added it to a 4 1/4′ by 11″ piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock that I scored at 5 1/2″.

On the inside I stamped the large leaf from the September 2017 Paper Pumpkin in Tangerine Tango. Then I stamped the accompanying sentiment in Memento ink on a small square of vellum. I added it with Tombow Liquid glue, so it would not show through.

I also added some  of the 1/4″ Copper Trim to spice it up a bit.

I still may go back and add a “thankful” sentiment to the front of the card from the Sheltering Tree stamp set…….I may just add an additional photo 🙂

Don’t forget to add your name, a comment and #stampitcontest to be entered to win the fantastic prize below , and CONGRATS to Carol Kirchgesler who was last months Blog Hop Winner 🙂

Stampin’ Blends review, Stampin’ Up!

Hi Stampers!

I created this fun card yesterday while explaining some things I discovered about the all new Stampin’ Blends, which will be available for purchase in my online store starting November 1, 2017. Click the link to SHOP NOW.

I tried the new blends out on Whisper White card stock, Vellum paper and Window Sheets. I used Memento ink for all of them and then I colored them in a few differnet ways to see which worked and how to make some work.

See the video below for all of the info.

The card I made was a Joy Fold card, and is very simple to create and also super easy to make into most any theme, style or color scheme:)

Measurements:

You can use a sheet of 8 1/2″ by 11″ and make two card bases and then add in the other part, or make one from a full sheet.

Base 4 1/4″ by 11″, score at 5 1/2″ 2 3/4″

Inside Base 3 3/4″ by 7 1/2″, score at 3 3/4″

Layers for the main base
1 piece 4″ by 5 1/4″, I used DSP

2 pieces 4″ by 2 1/2″, again I used DSP

Layers for Inside Base
2 pieces 3 1/2″ by 3 1/2″, I used Whisper White to be able to stamp my images and sentiments.

In this version, I fussy cut an ornament from the Season of Whimsy to hold the card closed, pretty fun idea!

Until next time,

Facebook LIVE, Stampin' Up

Joy Fold Card, Stampin’ Up!

Hi Stampers! This is a follow up with the measurements and colors used during todays Facebook LIVE!

Thanks again for sticking it out through all the interruptions and freezes. There was a shooting near where I live and I had some family calling to see if we were safe and home. My thoughts are with those who lost loved ones, on a day like today I am reminded to please always BE KIND.

I have learned however how to broadcast from this moment forward and not be interrupted, so there is that 🙂

2 pieces 3 1/2″ by 3 1/2″, I used Whisper White to be able to stamp my images and sentiments

I also used the 2″ Circle Punch and the Starburst Punch to make the piece that will hold them all closed , but you could swap that out depending on the needs of your card.

I used Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and Pool Party as my main inks, and a bit of Archival Black ink, Blender Pens, and of course Wink of Stella!

I used the Hostess Set Season of Whimsy and Merry Mistletoe which are both in the 2017 Holiday Catalog.

Until next time,
Stay Crafty
