Stampin’ Blends review, Stampin’ Up!

Hi Stampers!

I created this fun card yesterday while explaining some things I discovered about the all new Stampin’ Blends, which will be available for purchase in my online store starting November 1, 2017. Click the link to SHOP NOW.

I tried the new blends out on Whisper White card stock, Vellum paper and Window Sheets. I used Memento ink for all of them and then I colored them in a few differnet ways to see which worked and how to make some work.

See the video below for all of the info.

The card I made was a Joy Fold card, and is very simple to create and also super easy to make into most any theme, style or color scheme:)

Measurements:

You can use a sheet of 8 1/2″ by 11″ and make two card bases and then add in the other part, or make one from a full sheet.

Base 4 1/4″ by 11″, score at 5 1/2″ 2 3/4″

Inside Base 3 3/4″ by 7 1/2″, score at 3 3/4″

Layers for the main base
1 piece 4″ by 5 1/4″, I used DSP

2 pieces 4″ by 2 1/2″, again I used DSP

Layers for Inside Base
2 pieces 3 1/2″ by 3 1/2″, I used Whisper White to be able to stamp my images and sentiments.

In this version, I fussy cut an ornament from the Season of Whimsy to hold the card closed, pretty fun idea!

Until next time,

Stay Crafty

XO Rach

Bendi card with Magical Mermaid & Father Christmas, Stampin’ Up!

I added stoppers to keep it bent, this one is the holly sprig on the left
I added a Holly sprig on the inside as well to hlep keep the bend with a stopper
Close up of the stopper
My 1st Bendi card ever

A beautiful greeting thanks to the Ready for Christmas stamp set
stands up all on its own!
No stoppers on this version, I will update on how it holds up being mailed

Hi Stampers!

As a follow up to the Facebook LIVE I did earlier today, I added a few “stoppers” to hold the bend parts in place. I stamped a Holly Spring in Always Artichoke and colored it in with Garden Green and Old Olive, did the berries in Real Red, sponged it with Crumb Cake ink and fussy cut it out. I added two dimesionals to the back and attached one to the front panel and one to the inside card to hold the second panel. This was after a questions from a live viewer who asked if the ned would hold up after mailing. I mailed one of the cards out today, and I will let you know how it holds up without these added “stoppers”.

I also forgot to mention and I don’t know how I forgot, because I add Wink of Stella to EVERYTHING, that I added Wink to Santa, the tree and his bag. It makes it so much more magical of a card.

Again, you can add a regular A4 card panel and attach the car to that, but this card stands perfectly well without it, and that way you can make more cards with less sheets of card stock…..WIN WIN!!!!

Cherry Cobbler version is smaller the the original version I made the first time, I cut it down a bit to show more of Santa when it is open

Cherry Cobbler panel : 4 1/4″ by 5 1/2″, score at 1/2″ on 5 1/2″ side

Very Vanilla layers: 4″ by 5 1/4″, you will need two

Cherry Cobbler panels: 5 1/4″ by 2 1/4″ and 5 1/4″ by 1 1/2″, score at 1/2″ on 5 1/2″ side

Very Vanilla layers: 4 5/8″ by 2 1/8″ and 4 5/8″ by  1 3/8″

Scraps of Very Vanilla if you want to add Holly Sprig “stoppers”

2017 Holiday Catalog, 2017-18 Stampin' Up! Annual catalog, DSP Designer Series Paper, Fall & Autumn, Halloween, Regals Collection, Something Old & Something New, Stampin' Up

Peek Through Halloween card,Stampin’ Up!

Hi Stampers! Thought I would share this fun and easy to create card with you today. It was an older idea of mine that I revamped for a Halloween card, but you could easily swap out the theme as well

Hope you give it a try and I would love to see your results!

To make the card, take a standard card base of 4 1/4″ by 11″, score on the 11″ side at 5 1/2″, then on one of the 5 1/2″ sides, trim 1 1/2″ from the bottom, then trim 2″ from the bottom, this will make your bottom and cross piece layer to hold the card together.

You will then need a sheet of 4″ by 5 1/2″ of Whisper White to make layers to add on. You will cut it at 1 3/8″ and 1 7/8″ two times to make layers for your card base.

It’s all fully explained in the video in case this seems confusing.

Until next time,

Stay Crafty!!

XOXO Rach

Fall Blog Hop, Stampin’ Up!

Hi stampers! Are you getting ready for back to school? Have your kids already gone back? Well then this hop is going to be right up your alley! Autumn and Fall are the theme to this months hop. If you come along you can almost smell the crisp air, feel the slight chill and maybe grab your favorite sweater and beverage of choice. Hey we can dream right!?!? It’ll be here before long 🍁🍂☕️

Measurements:

Card base: Thick Very Vanilla 4 1/4″ by 11″, score at 5 1/2″

Very Vanilla Scraps: used to stamp flowers, lights, pumpkins, sign, welcome mat

I cut the door portion from the Thick Very Vanilla panel and set the door aside. I then ran the top half with the missing door through the Big Shot using the Brick Wall embossing folder.

I added Cajun Craze ink to the bricks with a Stampin’ Sponge, I then went over it again with the Smoky Slate ink and a Stampin’ Sponge. I really love how it turned out. What about you? What would you change when you make it yours?

I decided to keep the garland even though they’re holly berries because when I colored them in they look very fall-esque.  Of course the sunflowers and pumpkins fit perfectly!

I think  dimensionals give so much life to a card, so I kinda went crazy with them here.

I added all the ink into the flowers etc. using the Blender Pens because they give much better control and hues on smaller pieces in my opinion.

I used Pumpkin Pie & Tangerine Tango inks for the pumpkins, Garden Green for the stems and flowerstems.

I used Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Real Red & Smoky Slate inks for the flowers.

I used Smoky Slate and a touch of Dapper Denim for the door, and Crushed Curry for the handle.

I used Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Garden Green, So Saffron & Cajun Crake inks for the garland.

I used Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron, Real Red, Soft Sky & Smoky Slate inks for the lights.

The mat is stamped in Archival Black ink onto Crumb Cake card stock.

I hope you have enjoyed this creation as much as I loved creating it!

I’d love to hear your thoughts and see your versions too:)

2017 Occasions catalog, 2017 Retirement List, Blog Hop, Clearance Rack, Retiring Products 2017, Something Old & Something New, Stampin' Up

Stamp It Group Father’s Day blog hop, Stampin’ Up!

Hi stampers! What do you think of this new stamp set? Isn’t is so darn cute? I thought it would make a fun alternative to standard  Father’s Day cards! This is a new host stamp set that will be available in the 2017-18 Annual Catalog. You can get this or any of the hostess sets by having a party, or placing a qualifying order in my online store. I can provide more details if you would like, just send me a note at Rachthestamper@gmail.com .

I used several different ink colors and a blender pen to color in the birds. I gave one a much more “DAD” colored feel, and the other I made a daughter 🙂 You can change out any of the colors, you could also use the watercolor pencils instead and go over with the blender pens to smooth out the color. You could also use Stampin’ Write markers to fill it in too!

I added a “nest” I made from the 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon. I snipped out the threads that connect them, loosened them up and the adhered them with TomBow liquid glue so I was able to place it just where I wanted it. I then added some of the Kraft Rope Trim to give it a bottom. The rope trim is in the Clearance Rack by the way and it is REALLY on sale! So…..ya might wanna hurry 😀

I filled in the leaves on the branches with two different colors of marker: I used Pear Pizzazz and Soft Sky, and I think they turned out so pretty!

I will try to get a little mini video done for how I made the NEST and masked the birds to add the branches behind them very soon!

Hope you enjoyed this out of the box style card, please let me know what you think!

If this is your first time to a blog hop, WELCOME! To participate, you will need to leave a comment, along with your full name and #StampItContest to be entered. This months prize is a card kit which is fun because it has everything you need all in one box. Just get your paper snips and you’ll be set!

2017-18 Stampin' Up! Annual catalog, Regals Collection, Something Old & Something New, Stampin' Up

Pieces & Patterns, Stampin’ Up!

This fun new stamp set will steal the show when it debuts in the all new 2017-18 Stampin’ Up! Annual catalog.

I used Cajun Craze cardstock and ink for the Dino and I stamped a mushroom and raindrop image with Crumb Cake all onto Very Vanilla card stock. I added a touch of Always Artichoke with the Stampin’ Write marker for some added detail and depth.

The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and I punched it out with the Classic Label punch.

2017-19 In Colors, Something Old & Something New, Stampin' Up, Watercoloring

Watercoloring , Stampin’ Up!

Hi Stampers! So, let me guess……you’ve never tried to watercolor because you’re not an artist? Maybe you don’t have water in your house? It looks scary? Well, those things may be true, but watercoloring is one of the most REWARDING and most forgiving techniques you will ever try.

The beauty of it, is that you do not have to have any idea what you are doing……all you need to do is try. When you order your aqua painter, first off, you get TWO! That’s right two, and they have different brush lengths and thicknesses. When I first got mine I did so at a big box craft store, and it was only one in the bag. And to be honest, it worked for some time, still does. But to be able to be authentic for you all, I ordered the brushed from Stampin’ Up! and was rather surprised that they came in two packs. Pretty cool if you ask me.

So now you have your brushes,  you just need to fill them with water, and grab a cloth or paper towel, even a baby wipe if it’s handy. You’ll need something to blot with and to bleed the ink out onto if you want to switch colors. And trust me, you will switch colors if you give this a shot.

It is super relaxing to water color and there are many ways to do it, and I will have a video later this week to link in a few of them. But for basics, you can choose Watercolor Paper(WC), or Thick Whisper White(TWW)card stock, OR coming out very soon in the new catalog Thick Very Vanilla card stock ( which I am thrilled about!!!).

Then you have to make a choice, you can take your brush and lay a light( read not soaking wet) layer of water over the whole paper you are going to color, this works slightly better with the WC paper, but the TWW will work too, and slowly add in layers of the color you picked first. Clean you brush add a new color and repeat. Alternatively, you can add a few drops of water to the well side of your ink pad after you ova squeezed the pad together to create an ink pool. You can also achieve them same thing by adding a few drops of reinker to the well side of the pad and add a few drops of water too. The second technique will give a slightly more concentrated color hue.

And yet another way to watercolor is to stamp an image in either Tuxedo ink, Staz-On ink or Archival Black ink. Let the black ink dry thoroughly and then add in your color. I would stay away from laying the water onto the whole image for this version , as it will likely smear your image. However, that color be a very pretty, soft and washed out card, so I may just have to try that myself.

So my main point is, give it a try. Sure, you may hate it, but I find that highly unlikely. My bet is you’ll be asking yourself what took you so long to try it? One more tiny piece of advice, if you truly hate the image and think you have really gone down the wrong path, and who in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD is gonna want this card…..walk away. Let it dry, even give it a full overnight, and I thinking the morning you may be pleasantly surprised 🙂

Most of all, do not give up, create something that makes you smile, makes your heart sing, and may very well make someones day!

Until next time, Stay Crafty!

XO Rach

2017 Occasions catalog, Blog Hop, Brights Collection, Easter, Framelits, Fun Paper Boxes, One Sheet Wonder, Something Old & Something New, Stampin' Up

Stamp It Group:Easter Blog Hop, Stampin’ Up!

Hi stampers 🙂

How are you all on this beautiful Blog Hop Saturday?

I am so happy I finally came up with a fun Easter blog hop idea. Well, ok: full disclosure, my stampin’ buddy Ronda did. She helped me a L O T, she is really good at helping me when my creative process is all buggered up! Also telling me when I have good ( and bad) ideas. She is able to think on the fly, and brainstorm in a fun and different way. That is why I would not trade her for a whole vat of Reese’s peanut butter cups…… and she knows just how much I love them too!

Now,  on to what you hopped here for,  the cards! I did these in two slightly different styles. One with the largest Oval from the layering Oval framelits, and another with the largest Scalloped Oval from the same set.

I used a quarter sheet of card stock for each card, which makes it super simple to create a ton of them, and you can swap out colors to make it more fun too!

Start with  a 4 1/4″ by 5 1/2″ piece of card stock, and on the 5 1/2″ side, score at 2 3/4″. Then with the oval or scalloped framelit you picked, lay it down onto the BigShot platform, and put one of the long oval edges just off the card side ( at the fold) so you will not cut it into two ovals, but instead create an oval card base.

Repeat for as many as you want to make.

I then stamped two different sentiments with some flowers and background images, and cut them both out with the 2nd largest Oval from the layering oval framelits.

The sentiments are from the Suite Sentiments & Suite Sayings stamp sets. And, if i haven’t told you , the “Suite” series ( there have been a few) are MY FAVORITES!!!!

I just adore how there are coordinating fonts, and styles, and the words are all so beautiful and really versatile. I do not know who came up with them, but when I find out, they’re getting a card pronto!

Ok Rach, reign it back in 🙂  I also decorated them both a tiny bit differently. I added the Pearl Basic Jewels to one, along with a faux bow made with the 5/8″ Organza Ribbon. Then the Sprinkles Embellishments ( the matching colors to what I stamped) for the other.

I trimmed off a tiny bit of the bottom on the upright oval card to get it to stand, but I don’t think you notice it a bit.

For the Mini Egg Cartons, I kinda went a little nuts! I filled the stampin’ spritzer mostly with 70% alcohol, and dropped in about five drops of Bermuda Bay reinker. Close it with the lid, and give it a shake, then spritz away. I also sponged a bit of Cucumber Crush, and went around the edges with a bit of Sweet Sugarplum. I then cut some strips of Perfect Plum, and squished them up a bit between my fingers to make it look Easter-grass-ish 🙂 and finally added in my treats.

Hope you will give these sweet “egg” cards a try. I would love to see some of your own versions!

Until next time…..Stay Crafty!

XO Rach

P.S. I will get a video done to demonstrate how to cut the card bases later today if possible.
