Build a Birthday, Stampin’ Up!

Hey there stampers! I am going down memory lane and perusing the 2016-17 annual catalog for little gems that I have sadly forgotten! These sets sometimes get missed when the Occasions catty drops. I will go back lots of times and think I can’t believe I haven’t used that set in so long, and I will pull it out and use the heck out of it!

I sometimes think of my stamp sets in the Toy Story fashion, as if they are just siting there saying ” Why isn’t Rach using us?” I know, I am a tad corny, but I am what I am !

Anyway, this quick and easy birthday card should be on your “must create in case of emergency birthday ” list! I know I sometimes go through that stack of cards quicker than I like to admit, and this card is a great way to add back to your stack pretty quickly.

Plus, you could change the colors around, and make it a great 50 ( or 60 or 70) and Fabulous card, by using Smoky Slate, and Archival black for that Black Tie look. Add a little glimmer paper, and you will WOW them.

See, I just gave myself a new idea as I was typing, so off to the craft room to recreate!

OK onto the directions!

Card Base: Watermelon Wonder 5 1/2″ by 81/2″, scored at 4 1/4″. Stamp the flags from the Build a Birthday set onto the base in Watermelon Wonder ink in a random pattern.

Stamp the layers of the cake, and trim just to size using the paper snips.

My colors were from bottom to top:

Cake Plate: Dapper Denim, I used a blender Pen to add some White craft ink to the edge and to add details.

Cake : Mint Macaron, Flirty Flamingo, Sweet Sugarplum, Cucumber Crush

I stamped the sentiment and the top flags in Watermelon Wonder. I hand trimmed the sentiment, and I stamped the flags directly onto the base layer of card stock that I layered the “cake” onto.

The Whisper White layer measures 2 3/4″ by 4 3/4″, I also added some Silver metallic thread under the white layer for some added pop. I went over the flags and the cake plate with Wink of Stella for a little sparkle!

Until next time……

Stay Crafty!

2014-2016 In Colors, 2015-2017 In Colors, 2017 Occasions catalog, Annual Catalog, Birthday cards, DSP Designer Series Paper, NEW 2016-17 Stampin' Up Catalog, Something Old & Something New, Stampin' Up

Simple Happy Birthday card, Stampin’ Up!

Hey stampers! We all need a quick card in our arsenal, and this is a great one to keep on hand. You can switch the designer series paper (DSP) out for most any occasion, and also quickly swap out sentiments as well!

I have been trying a combo of stamping with old (Stampin’ Up! annual catalog) and new( 2017 Occasions catalog) these past few weeks. It seems that we sometimes can forget the tried and true stamps, papers and embellishments when a new catalog comes out. But , some of these are true gems and are certainly underused if only by me ūüôā

So on to the card, it is super easy, and as I said you can change it to your liking in so many ways.

Base Layer: 4 1/4″ by 11″ , score at 5 1/2″

DSP Layer: 4 1/4″ by. 3 1/2″

Whisper White Layer: 4″ by 3 1/4″

Use a coordinating ink color to match the card stock you chose, then stamp a leaf, bubble or other nondescript image on to the card stock. More on the sides since the DSP will block most of the card.

Stamp your sentiment in the lower left of the Whisper White panel, then add some leaves and flowers to the top right to balance it out.

Line up your DSP layer, and Whisper White layer so you know where to stamp the additional sentiment. You can also leave it off if you do not want it ūüôā

Add snail to the DSP and Whisper White layers, and adhere them to the card base.

As always you can add some Stella;) Wink of Stella that is……she always makes everything sparkle in my opinion.

And, there you have it, quick, fun, totally interchangeable to suit your needs.

Until next time, Stay Crafty!

2014-2016 In Colors, Christmas, New 2016 Holiday Catalog!!, Stampin' Up

LIVE Periscope replay Presents & Pinecones , Stampin’ Up!

Hey stampers! I am sharing a sneak peek of a card I am creating for my VERY FIRST party this Friday! I got this idea from the Holiday catalog. I have always loved the Kraft card stock, and I think this card is such a beautiful way to show it off!!

One note, make sure you let the Craft White ink dry very well, because it WILL smudge if you do not wait long enough. So you could stamp the pine branches and set it aside to dry, or hit it with the Heat Tool for a minute too.

This is a great card if you want to make a lot of them for your annual Christmas cards!

Until next time, Stay Crafty!!

2014-2016 In Colors, Retiring Products 2016, Stampin' Up

Thank my Lucky Stars, Stampin’ Up

This is one of my favorite new stamp sets from the 2016 Occasions Catalog, that I was really surprised will be retiring at the end of this month. It is so cool, with the constellation, and really unique sentiments. I thought I would give you a quick card idea, that could be easily switched for many different occasions. A masculine style card, with which lots of people have trouble coming up with new ideas. It would make a really nice Father’s Day or Graduation card. It’s also tone on tone ,which makes it¬†so very¬†appealing!

I basically went through the Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack and chose a few patterns, then picked my ink and card stock color from there. I cut different sizes of both the Banner and Star Framelits and placed them all around the card, layering some, doing some overlapped, then when I liked the way it looked, I added adhesive. I also popped the largest star up on dimensionals, and the star with the sentiment up on two levels of dimensionals to give added emphasis. I sponged the edges of most everything with Lost Lagoon ink to give a flow of color, and bring it all together. I hope you like it and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Until next time…..Stay Crafty!!

Going Global

Thankful for You

Going Global Note cards and Gift Box, Stampin’ Up

This is a really cute gift idea for a friend. Whether you just give the little cards and envelopes, or add in the little gift box. You can also swap out the DSP(designer series paper) for ANY occasion, change greetings, there are so many options.

You could also use Whisper White card stock instead of the Pear Pizzazz if you wanted a more understated box. I hope you’ll give it a try.

Again kudos to Angie Juda at Chic n scratch for this great project inspiration.

Outside of card holder box (I did restamp the sentiment from what the video shows….I wasn’t happy with the look)

Card bases:Whisper White 3″ by 6″, score at 3″

DSP layer 2 3/4″ by 2 3/4″

Sentiment on 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, 2″ Circle Punch if you want another layer

Box: 1 full sheet of card stock 8 1/2″ by 11″; score at 1″ on each side, place in landscape(long side across) and score at 5″ and 6″. Fold all score lines, cut to edge of score lines, trim a hare off if you like, add adhesive and secure your box.

DSP(for card box) 1 sheet, all measurements are on the video as well!

Till next time…..Happy Crafting ūüôā

2014-2016 In Colors, Stampin' Up

Mother’s Day, Botanical Blooms Stampin’ Up

This beautiful card is called a double gate fold card. I transformed it into a fabulous Mother’s Day card, because of all the people in your life, your momma deserves a simply beautiful card! And no one (besides a fellow stamper) will appreciate it as much as her, right?

And then…….Well, long story short, I ¬†heard about the 2016 Stampin’ Up retirement list and found out a favorite of mine Sea Street is going away. So I just had to make another version, with custom DSP. Another fav of mne By the Tide, is going away too, this has been a rough week for me. Making a ¬†nautical card is the best therapy I have next to going to the beach…….I’ll get through this …..I’ll just have to make more cards. Anyway¬†I hope you like both versions, but I would ¬†love to hear your thoughts!!

The full instructions on how to make this card are on the video that I will link to just below. It’s really a fairly easy card to make, and I found once I made one, I was hooked ūüôā

So, to recap, if there is some stamp set or ribbon or anything that you have been holding out for, better get to my online store and order N O W!!!

The supplies of some things are only until they sell out, some stamp sets will be a little longer, but better not to chance it!

The link to the retirement list is here: http://su-media.s3.amazonaws.com/media/lastChance/2016_NA_RetiredList/Retiring%20List%20Annual%20Occasions_NA_US.pdf

2014-2016 In Colors, Stampin' Up

Botanical Blooms, Stampin’ Up

¬†This is a card I have been on pins and needles¬†to make. Another stampin’ friend of mine Dena Rekow from the Creativity Cave inspired me with her card! It’s been so hard to watch everyone be able to make these beautiful cards and I couldn’t¬†because the Framelits were on back order……BUT…….I finally got them and have been cutting out flowers, for ¬†H O U R S !!!!! Really, if you could see the floor of my craft room, it looks as if I’m in Hawaii’. ¬†Wow, that would be such a great trip right now, that’s if I can take my framelits with me:).

Sentiment added

Before

I posted a before picture for adding my sentiment, and WOW that sentiment really made the card!

The base is Lost Lagoon 4 1/4″ by 11″, scored at ¬†5 1/2″. Then I simply added strips of Whisper White cut at 3/4″ by 4 1/4″, spaced out along the way. You could be precise if you’d like, but I am a little too lazy for that ūüėČ

I then added all of the flowers I had cut out with the Framelits die, attaching them either with Mini Glue Dots, or Dimensionals. So, So , SO EASY!!!! Super pretty, lots of wow factor.

Ya just can’t go wrong here!

2014-2016 In Colors, Stampin' Up

Wetlands beauty, Stampin’ Up

Hey there Stampin friends! It’s a soggy Saturday here in the Mid Atlantic, perfect card making weather ūüôā !

I thought these cards were some great examples for those who struggle with a more masculine style card. The sentiments could also be switched around for a birthday card, retirement card, sympathy or even a newly divorced person who may need a friend. Again,  that is why I really like to wait when possible to add a sentiment that way I always have a card ready and I can just pop in a greeting in Archival Black ink or even just hand write a note inside which I do VERY often.

I hope these inspire you with a few fresh ideas!

All bases are 5 1/2″ by 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″

Second layer of 5 3/8 ” by 4 1/8″

Whisper White or Very Vanilla layer with the main images at 5 2/8″ by 4 ”

I also used the 1″ circle punch and a post it to mask out the “sun”, and White Gel Pen to make the “water” effect around the bird feet, and to make a little ‘water puddle’ if you will.

What I did was, basically either sponged or used the daubers to add in the color in layers to my liking. Some turned out nicer than others, but really these photos do these cards no justice. On the final card it photographed kind of wacky looking and the color combo quite frankly, is a little odd. But, in person this card is beautiful and so unique. Maybe I’ll try to get another view and add it in later. My point is try your best take a step back and see it from a fresh point of view. Try a new color combo or technique, you never know it may become your new favorite thing! ‚ėļÔłŹ
