Stamp It Group:Easter Blog Hop, Stampin' Up!

Rachael · March 18, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Hi stampers 🙂

How are you all on this beautiful Blog Hop Saturday?

I am so happy I finally came up with a fun Easter blog hop idea. Well, ok: full disclosure, my stampin’ buddy Ronda did. She helped me a L O T, she is really good at helping me when my creative process is all buggered up! Also telling me when I have good ( and bad) ideas. She is able to think on the fly, and brainstorm in a fun and different way. That is why I would not trade her for a whole vat of Reese’s peanut butter cups…… and she knows just how much I love them too!
Now,  on to what you hopped here for,  the cards! I did these in two slightly different styles. One with the largest Oval from the layering Oval framelits, and another with the largest Scalloped Oval from the same set.
I used a quarter sheet of card stock for each card, which makes it super simple to create a ton of them, and you can swap out colors to make it more fun too!
Start with  a 4 1/4″ by 5 1/2″ piece of card stock, and on the 5 1/2″ side, score at 2 3/4″. Then with the oval or scalloped framelit you picked, lay it down onto the BigShot platform, and put one of the long oval edges just off the card side ( at the fold) so you will not cut it into two ovals, but instead create an oval card base.
Repeat for as many as you want to make.
I then stamped two different sentiments with some flowers and background images, and cut them both out with the 2nd largest Oval from the layering oval framelits.
The sentiments are from the Suite Sentiments & Suite Sayings stamp sets. And, if i haven’t told you , the “Suite” series ( there have been a few) are MY FAVORITES!!!!
I just adore how there are coordinating fonts, and styles, and the words are all so beautiful and really versatile. I do not know who came up with them, but when I find out, they’re getting a card pronto!
Ok Rach, reign it back in 🙂  I also decorated them both a tiny bit differently. I added the Pearl Basic Jewels to one, along with a faux bow made with the 5/8″ Organza Ribbon. Then the Sprinkles Embellishments ( the matching colors to what I stamped) for the other.
I trimmed off a tiny bit of the bottom on the upright oval card to get it to stand, but I don’t think you notice it a bit.
For the Mini Egg Cartons, I kinda went a little nuts! I filled the stampin’ spritzer mostly with 70% alcohol, and dropped in about five drops of Bermuda Bay reinker. Close it with the lid, and give it a shake, then spritz away. I also sponged a bit of Cucumber Crush, and went around the edges with a bit of Sweet Sugarplum. I then cut some strips of Perfect Plum, and squished them up a bit between my fingers to make it look Easter-grass-ish 🙂 and finally added in my treats.
Hope you will give these sweet “egg” cards a try. I would love to see some of your own versions!
Until next time…..Stay Crafty!
XO Rach
P.S. I will get a video done to demonstrate how to cut the card bases later today if possible.

Congrats to Diana! She’s last months winnerImage may contain: text
