A Fast and Fun Christmas Gift , Stampin’ Up!

Hello Stampers!

Guess what……I just finished my blog post for today! I promised to have a new one every day through Christmas Eve and I forgot. So I thought, it is close to Christmas, people may be in crunch time mode…..make a quick and easy one!

So this is what I came up with and you may have many of the easy things needed to make these, and guess what else? If you don’t ,swap it our for a stamp set you have, or you could even go the route of giving thank you cards! People NEED those too!

If you have the Pizza Boxes to add the cards below to, you could add some DSP and a simple stamped image, tie some ribbon as well if you’d like.

If you don’t , just tie it up with a pretty , festive ribbon, or layer two together as I did with these!

You could copy any of the cards shown and make the same stamp only ones, or DSP and a stamp, whatever works for your needs!

So without further delay…..

The note cards are 3″ by 6″, score at 3″, you can use Whisper White or Very Vanilla to make it easy. You can use colored card stock but you may need to add a white insert so keep it simple.

Then Stamp, use ink that is not a traditional Christmas color, know why? It is your card! And besides Christmas lights on a string are all different colors right?

I went with similar color schemes, for example:

Rich Razzleberry and Perfect Plum

Dapper Denim and Marina Mist

I think they are fun and take the stress out.

Another way is the Stampin’ Blends if you WANT to color…..if you don’t just Stamp It! 🙂

One more way is a bold sentiment with a 2 3/4″ square piece of DSP behind it! Ya know you have tons of cool DSP leftover 😉

So easy and fun and really with endless possibilities too

Hope you have fun creating your version!

Stay tuned for a new idea each day up through Christmas Eve:)…..Even if I “Last Minute Lucy” it 😀

Until next time,

Stay Crafty

For the CHRISTMAS BOX you will need one piece of card stock and a Designer Series Paper piece

LID Cardstock to measure 7 1/4″ by 8 1/4″

on the 8 1/4 side, score at 1 /2″, 2 6/8″, 5 12/”, 7 6/8″

on the 7 1/4″ side, score at 2 1/4″, 5″, 7 2/8″

BOTTOM Cardstock to measure 8 1/8″ by 6 7/8″

on the 8 1/8″ side, score at 1/2″, 2 3/4″, 5 3/8″, 7 5/8″

on the 6 7/8″ side, score at 2 1/8″, 4 6/8″

Someone also suggested to punch out with a 1/2″ Circle Punch on the lid to make it easier to lift the lid from the bottom of the box, that is a great idea, as suction will hold it closed a bit. Just be sure you punch on the side that DOES NOT have the flaps holding the box together.

I will do this and add a pic as well.

Christmas blog hop, Stampin’ Up! November

Hi Stampers!

Welcome to our Stamp It Group CHRISTMAS Blog Hop!!

I hope you will come away with so much inspiration and so many ideas, you forget to do your chores today 🙂

The project I designed today is actually one I just recently pulled out and decided I would redo it again, but until late yesterday , I had no idea I would use it for this blog hop.

It is so simple, fun and easy to create I figured it would be a huge hit to make for so many people in out lives. Especially at this giving time of year, when little things mean so much more than we know.

These would be super gift to give to your kids teachers, your daycare people, mom friends at school…..the list could go on and on. Lots of people might really want to give a little thank you note but not have the time or energy to get or make one, so you could save the day by gifting them this little box of goodies.

Its a simple design, you need a fun 8 1/2″ by 11″ piece of card stock. I would suggest using Thick Whisper White or Thick Very Vanilla as they are quite sturdy and will score and hold shape so well.

Then you can decorate with your choice of Designer Series Paper, or even some thinlits or edgelits as I have shown in the many examples.

You can also make the cards as simple or intricate as you’d like. You can decorate the fronts with 2 3/4″ square pieces of DSP, strips of Washi Tape, a Sentiment punched out and layered on another larger Punch, and so many more.

I hope you’ll give them a try and don’t be like me, give them out and share with someone you love and appreciate this holiday season!

Make sure to leave a comment along with #stampitcontest to be entered to win!

Measurements:

On the 8 1/2″ side, score at 1″ on each end

On the 11″ side, score at 1″ and 4″ on each side, you will end up with a 1″ score in the center if you do it correctly.

DSP Layers:

For the top of the box, you will need a piece of DSP measuring 3 7/8″ by 6 3/8″, two of each measuring 3/8″ by 6 3/8″ and 3/8″ by 3 7/8″ for the long front layers and two side layers.

The rest is up to you.

You could stamp a sentiment on Whisper White and punch it out with the 2″ Circle Punch, then punch a Starburst circle with Copper, Silver or Gold Foil paper. Make sure you give it some flair by tying a length of ribbon to hold it closed and add a small bow. Make it just loose enough that they can slide it off and back on and add some sparkle with the Silver Sequin trim.

Make it more rustic by adding Burlap Ribbon, a bow made of Copper Trim and then finish it by wrapping a Boxwood Wreath around the bows.

They may not even want to open it……but they will 🙂

Until next time,

Stay Crafty

XO Rach

Scalloped Tag Topper Treat Holders, Stampin’ Up!

Hi Stampers!

Today I am sharing these super simple and cute treat holders you can create for many little gifts this holiday season!

You could use any Designer Series Paper for this project, but I have to say the Christmas Around the World DSP is one of my ALL TIME FAVS! It is also great since you can use the scraps and cut out little pieces to decorate your treat holder, a two for one in my opinion.

I will give measurements for both of them, but if you have a larger treat, all you need to do is to make your flaps a bit longer and you can always make the base a bit wider too to accommodate any treat!

Also, be sure if you haven’t already to sign up for my Holiday Helper emails, it will give you 13 Holiday ideas of cute cards and treat holders just like these to knock out your Christmas gift list in no time! I need your email address and name sent to Rachthestamper@gmail.com.

#1 Tic Tac Holder

Start with a piece of DSP measuring 7 5/8″ by 3 1/8″, on the 7 5/8″ side, score at 3 3/8″ on each side by scoring and then rotating the card stock 90* and repeating the score. Then on the 3 1/8″ side, score at 1/2″ on each side again by scoring and then rotating 90* and scoring.

Below is  a step by step photo template

1)

2)

3)

4)

Below is  a photo template so you know what the trimmed holder should look like prior to adding Fast Fuse (FF).

#2 York Peppermint Patty Holder

Start with a piece of DSP measuring 1 15/16″ by 7″, on the 7″ side, score at 3 1/8″ on each side by turning the card stock piece around 90*, it will make a more even treat holder.

Below is  a photo template so you know what the trimmed holder should look like, then just use the Scallop Tag Topper punch at each end, and add ribbon to hold closed.

Stamp It Group:Easter Blog Hop, Stampin’ Up!

Hi stampers 🙂

How are you all on this beautiful Blog Hop Saturday?

I am so happy I finally came up with a fun Easter blog hop idea. Well, ok: full disclosure, my stampin’ buddy Ronda did. She helped me a L O T, she is really good at helping me when my creative process is all buggered up! Also telling me when I have good ( and bad) ideas. She is able to think on the fly, and brainstorm in a fun and different way. That is why I would not trade her for a whole vat of Reese’s peanut butter cups…… and she knows just how much I love them too!

Now,  on to what you hopped here for,  the cards! I did these in two slightly different styles. One with the largest Oval from the layering Oval framelits, and another with the largest Scalloped Oval from the same set.

I used a quarter sheet of card stock for each card, which makes it super simple to create a ton of them, and you can swap out colors to make it more fun too!

Start with  a 4 1/4″ by 5 1/2″ piece of card stock, and on the 5 1/2″ side, score at 2 3/4″. Then with the oval or scalloped framelit you picked, lay it down onto the BigShot platform, and put one of the long oval edges just off the card side ( at the fold) so you will not cut it into two ovals, but instead create an oval card base.

Repeat for as many as you want to make.

I then stamped two different sentiments with some flowers and background images, and cut them both out with the 2nd largest Oval from the layering oval framelits.

The sentiments are from the Suite Sentiments & Suite Sayings stamp sets. And, if i haven’t told you , the “Suite” series ( there have been a few) are MY FAVORITES!!!!

I just adore how there are coordinating fonts, and styles, and the words are all so beautiful and really versatile. I do not know who came up with them, but when I find out, they’re getting a card pronto!

Ok Rach, reign it back in 🙂  I also decorated them both a tiny bit differently. I added the Pearl Basic Jewels to one, along with a faux bow made with the 5/8″ Organza Ribbon. Then the Sprinkles Embellishments ( the matching colors to what I stamped) for the other.

I trimmed off a tiny bit of the bottom on the upright oval card to get it to stand, but I don’t think you notice it a bit.

For the Mini Egg Cartons, I kinda went a little nuts! I filled the stampin’ spritzer mostly with 70% alcohol, and dropped in about five drops of Bermuda Bay reinker. Close it with the lid, and give it a shake, then spritz away. I also sponged a bit of Cucumber Crush, and went around the edges with a bit of Sweet Sugarplum. I then cut some strips of Perfect Plum, and squished them up a bit between my fingers to make it look Easter-grass-ish 🙂 and finally added in my treats.

Hope you will give these sweet “egg” cards a try. I would love to see some of your own versions!

Until next time…..Stay Crafty!

XO Rach

P.S. I will get a video done to demonstrate how to cut the card bases later today if possible.

Valentine’s Little Box , Stampin’ Up!

Hi stampers! I am happy to share the little box instructions with you! I really thought I already made this blog post and video, and I did, but it was on a Facebook Live, and I am not able to copy it to here. So, since so many asked, and I TRULY LOVE your feedback, I decided to get to it and fast. You are the reason I do this after all 🙂

Ok first of all, this doesn’t need to be a “little” box, you can make it whatever size you may want or need. As long as your paper is square, you are good to go. Mind you I think most paper stops at a 12×12 size, but let your heart run wild!

You will need a square piece of DSP or cardstock, Tombow Liquid glue, and your bone folder.

Another note, the Specialty DSP, is a little thinner, and will tend to rip a bit more, so if you choose to use it, be gentle with your folding , and maybe hold out on using your bone folder unless necessary.

Also, using card stock as your box, is much thicker, and can be done, but you will definitely need your bone folder.

So to sum it up, the regular DSP ( of any kind, In Color, patterned, solid color) will work the best, but the other will be fine as well, as long as you are patient.

Make sure your DSP is square, 6×6, 8×8, 5×5, 12×12, you get the idea, then follow the folds below.

So, forgive me, I reused the instruction photos from the Christmas Version ( it has been overcast and rainy, and I didn’t want to post dim photos)

I reloaded the Valentine’s version onto this , so you could follow along with both if you liked!

12″ by 12″ piece of DSP

Trimmed to 8″ by8″

Keep a 3″ by 3″ piece of the DSP and cut a 2 3/4″ by 2 3/4″ square of Very Vanilla

Score the Very Vanilla piece at 3/4″ on each side, fold, snip at corners add glue dots and form inside of lid.

Add snail to DSP piece add sentiment piece cut from 2″ circle punch , layered onto a 2 1/2″ circle layer of Cherry Cobbler

Fold 8″ by 8″ piece in half, fold in half again in the other direction.

Fold corner to corner and brandish folds with bone folder. You will also want to fold corner to  corner  the opposite way to get an easier fold.

(Ps the DSP side you want to show should be facing up or out so you can see it)

Fold the corners in to form a square then turn so the opening faces you

Fold edge in and back to form a crease line to follow then fold the bottom of the left and right in to meet the crease

Fill over and repeat. When you’re done it should be the shape of a kite( see below)

Put your finger in the newly created fold and press open like a “squash fold”

You want the center of the squash fold to line up with the side of the kite( in a line)

Repeat on all four sides as above

You will then fold the edge of the flaps back in the other direction

Remember it will always match on all sides, that is how Origami folds work

On all four sides so they again match….

And once more it looks like a kite

The fold all four flaps up and brandish with bone folder

All four folder up (see below)

Put your fingers into the box and gently press open

And Voila!

You can gently curl the edges of the flaps with your bone folder to encourage them to go with the curve of the box and add adhesive to all four flap undersides if your going to attach them down

Valentine’s blog hop, Stampin’ Up!

Hi stampers! Ok confession time…..I love chocolate, I love hearts, I LOVE love, but every year I struggle with making Valentine’s cards. I don’t exactly know why, I love giving cards, but these are the hardest for me to  create. I had a completely different card for this hop, one that  I was not exactly thrilled with, and I thought I cannot just give a ho hum card. So back to the room I went, and viola, I came up with two different cards, and a little treat box.

I hope you like them! The treat box instructions are from a prior blog post, so you can find the instructions there. The cards were both beautiful and quite easy, so I hope you’ll not be like Rach in this instance and give them a try, and maybe make your version even more beautiful.

So, I thought a framed look would work really well with the tree card, pretty enough to leave up for some time. I started with a Basic Black card stock base, then added layers of Real Red, and finally Whisper White.

I stamped the tree in Early Espresso, and did a few ink variations for the “leaves”, and added a Smoky Slate “grass” for the feeling that love makes everything better.

I used the four linked hearts from the Love Notes Framelits to add the sentiment.

Then, I really fell in love with the new Love Notes Framelits dies, so I really wanted to use them again. For that card, I went with a Thick Whisper White base, and thin strip of the Sending Love DSP stack, and the line of hearts cut from Whisper White.

I used a full 6×6 piece of DSP from the Sending Love DSP stack for the treat box, and adhered the flaps with Tombow liquid glue. It takes a bit to dry, but is well worth it on the adhesion.

Tree card:

Basic Black card stock for base 4 1/4″ by 11″, scored at 5 1/2″

Real Red layer 4″ by 5 1/4″

Whisper White later 3 3/4″ by 5″

Love card:

Thick Whisper White card stock for base 4 1/4″ by 11″, scored at 5 1/2″

Whisper White layer 4″ by 5 1/4″, with hearts line on far right to the edge

Sending Love DSP stack layer 5 1/4″ by 3/4″layered under the hearts

Well, tell me your thoughts….Do you love Valentine’s Day? Is it your favorite, and if so why? I’ll tell you I love writing this blog, and it is better when I hear from you!

Until next time, Stay Crafty!

12x12 projects, 3D projects, DSP Designer Series Paper, Fun Paper Boxes, One Sheet Wonder, Stampin' Up

A Fun Gift box, Stampin’ Up!

Happy New Year STAMPERS!!! Here’s to another great year of crafts, cards and fun little projects 🙂

Sorry this is a tad behind the You Tube post, but I wanted to get the video out to you and post the measurements as soon as I could. You will find all that info below.

Alright, to start out you will need a 12×12 sheet of your card stock of choice , this will still work with DSP, but it WILL be a little flimsier. If I were you, I would just add in some DSP pieces to spruce up the box you create!

Pick a side, and you will score at 1/2″ and 3 1/2″ on each side, it is easiest to use the Simply Scored scoring tool and also easier if you score one side, then flip and repeat. I say this because from time to time, the 12″ measurement is just the tiniest bit off or not square. If you score then flip and repeat, you will get a truer box. ( Meaning more exact in the edges and overall squareness).

You are going to now turn to the unscored side, ( either one) and score at 3″ 5 5/8″. 8 5/8″ and 11 3/8″.

Thats it, now just fold on you score lines, you can use to bone folder for your creases if you’d like, then we will begin to trim.

You are also going to want to use either Tombow liquid glue or Tear and Tape. You will really want to secure the sides so it will not come apart when your friend opens it.

You will cut up the score lines on all sides at all lines, meaning both sides.

Trim off the two side slim pieces.

Trim in the sides of the 2nd and 4th sides on both sides, and snip a bit off of the ends because they will not need to be full length.

Trim the sides of the 3rd piece a bit, but do not trim the end.

Add adhesive to the thin fold piece, and the 2nd and 4th flaps as shown.

Fold them in, then fold the flap with the thin strip down and you are done.

If you want to add DSP to the top, sides, and front and back, you will need to cut the pieces as follows.

Two pieces( front and back long sides) 2 7/8″ by 4 7/8″

One piece( top piece) at 2 1/2″ by 4 7/8″

Two pieces at (two side parts) 2 3/8″ by 2 5/8″

I would love to know how you changed yours and what papers you used, drop me a line, or leave a comment and TELL ME! 🙂

Until Next time, Stay Crafty!!
