Stampin’ Blends review, Stampin’ Up!

Hi Stampers!

I created this fun card yesterday while explaining some things I discovered about the all new Stampin’ Blends, which will be available for purchase in my online store starting November 1, 2017. Click the link to SHOP NOW.

I tried the new blends out on Whisper White card stock, Vellum paper and Window Sheets. I used Memento ink for all of them and then I colored them in a few differnet ways to see which worked and how to make some work.

See the video below for all of the info.

The card I made was a Joy Fold card, and is very simple to create and also super easy to make into most any theme, style or color scheme:)

Measurements:

You can use a sheet of 8 1/2″ by 11″ and make two card bases and then add in the other part, or make one from a full sheet.

Base 4 1/4″ by 11″, score at 5 1/2″ 2 3/4″

Inside Base 3 3/4″ by 7 1/2″, score at 3 3/4″

Layers for the main base
1 piece 4″ by 5 1/4″, I used DSP

2 pieces 4″ by 2 1/2″, again I used DSP

Layers for Inside Base
2 pieces 3 1/2″ by 3 1/2″, I used Whisper White to be able to stamp my images and sentiments.

In this version, I fussy cut an ornament from the Season of Whimsy to hold the card closed, pretty fun idea!

Until next time,

Stay Crafty

Bendi card with Magical Mermaid & Father Christmas, Stampin’ Up!

I added stoppers to keep it bent, this one is the holly sprig on the left
I added a Holly sprig on the inside as well to hlep keep the bend with a stopper
Close up of the stopper
My 1st Bendi card ever

A beautiful greeting thanks to the Ready for Christmas stamp set
stands up all on its own!
No stoppers on this version, I will update on how it holds up being mailed

Hi Stampers!

As a follow up to the Facebook LIVE I did earlier today, I added a few “stoppers” to hold the bend parts in place. I stamped a Holly Spring in Always Artichoke and colored it in with Garden Green and Old Olive, did the berries in Real Red, sponged it with Crumb Cake ink and fussy cut it out. I added two dimesionals to the back and attached one to the front panel and one to the inside card to hold the second panel. This was after a questions from a live viewer who asked if the ned would hold up after mailing. I mailed one of the cards out today, and I will let you know how it holds up without these added “stoppers”.

I also forgot to mention and I don’t know how I forgot, because I add Wink of Stella to EVERYTHING, that I added Wink to Santa, the tree and his bag. It makes it so much more magical of a card.

Again, you can add a regular A4 card panel and attach the car to that, but this card stands perfectly well without it, and that way you can make more cards with less sheets of card stock…..WIN WIN!!!!

Cherry Cobbler version is smaller the the original version I made the first time, I cut it down a bit to show more of Santa when it is open

Cherry Cobbler panel : 4 1/4″ by 5 1/2″, score at 1/2″ on 5 1/2″ side

Very Vanilla layers: 4″ by 5 1/4″, you will need two

Cherry Cobbler panels: 5 1/4″ by 2 1/4″ and 5 1/4″ by 1 1/2″, score at 1/2″ on 5 1/2″ side

Very Vanilla layers: 4 5/8″ by 2 1/8″ and 4 5/8″ by  1 3/8″

Scraps of Very Vanilla if you want to add Holly Sprig “stoppers”

If you have a question, or need a catalog, shoot me an email at Rachthestamper@gmail.com

Until next time,

Stay Crafty!!

2017 Holiday Catalog, 2017-18 Stampin' Up! Annual catalog, Blog Hop, Christmas, DSP Designer Series Paper, Regals Collection, Stampin' Up

Christmas in July Blog Hop, Stampin’ Up!

Hi Stampers!

This beautiful antique style Christmas card, was incredibly easy to create, and it can also be quickly transformed to be a winter card. It could even be a sympathy or thinking of you card ,with the change of a sentiment!

It was a card idea I had in my head, and then when I started stamping it, I didn’t love it. Then I had the thought to change it to an older, vintage postcard style of card, and the magic began.

I stamped the pine trees first in the background, onto a Very Vanilla panel by inking the stamp in Pear Pizzazz, stamping off once first, then stamped the image. I stamped the smaller reindeer in Crumb Cake, and finally the larger centerpiece Reindeer in Early Espresso. I filled in the bigger deer with a blender pen and the Early Espresso ink pad, and also used those tools to add shadowing to the deer for depth of field. I sponged the edges with Early Espresso as well, but I still was not completely satisfied with the look. So I ran a small clear block along the edge of the card stock to rough it up a bit and give an aged curl.  I then used the flat side of the sponge dabbed lightly all over the front in Crumb Cake to finish the aged patina.

I am so thrilled with how this turned out, but it needed a touch of a red color to slightly brighten it, but not a bright red, so I turned to the Cherry Cobbler 1/4″ Double Stitched Ribbon to add a slight color pop. I added the ribbon to a piece of Be Merry DSP with bit of Snail Adhesive. I mounted the front panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals to give some height and visual interest. Then adhered them to a Garden Green card stock base.

I didn’t stop there, for the inside I added the Pine Boughs in Garden Green ink by stamping them first full ink, then again without reinking to fill in the negative space. I sponged the edges as well in Early Espresso, and added the sentiment in that same ink as well.

I finished the front of the card, with some tiny touches of Clear Wink of Stella. I thought it added a bit of wintery Christmas magic.

Measurements

Base: Garden Green 4 1/4″ by 11″, score at 5 1/2″

DSP layer: 4″ by 5 /14″

Very Vanilla front: 3 1/2″ by 4 1/2″

Inside Very Vanilla panel: 4″ by 5 1/4″

So, what do you think? I am really pleased and think I may actually use this design as my family Christmas card…….well, until I get ahold of the 2017 Holiday Catalog I suppose 😉

Until next time,

Stay Crafty!!

2016 End of Year Sale & Clearance, 3D projects, Brights Collection, Christmas, DSP Designer Series Paper, Fun Paper Boxes, New 2016 Holiday Catalog!!, One Sheet Wonder, Punches, Retiring Products 2016, Something Old & Something New, Stampin' Up

Valentine’s Little Box , Stampin’ Up!

Hi stampers! I am happy to share the little box instructions with you! I really thought I already made this blog post and video, and I did, but it was on a Facebook Live, and I am not able to copy it to here. So, since so many asked, and I TRULY LOVE your feedback, I decided to get to it and fast. You are the reason I do this after all 🙂

Ok first of all, this doesn’t need to be a “little” box, you can make it whatever size you may want or need. As long as your paper is square, you are good to go. Mind you I think most paper stops at a 12×12 size, but let your heart run wild!

You will need a square piece of DSP or cardstock, Tombow Liquid glue, and your bone folder.

Another note, the Specialty DSP, is a little thinner, and will tend to rip a bit more, so if you choose to use it, be gentle with your folding , and maybe hold out on using your bone folder unless necessary.

Also, using card stock as your box, is much thicker, and can be done, but you will definitely need your bone folder.

So to sum it up, the regular DSP ( of any kind, In Color, patterned, solid color) will work the best, but the other will be fine as well, as long as you are patient.

Make sure your DSP is square, 6×6, 8×8, 5×5, 12×12, you get the idea, then follow the folds below.

So, forgive me, I reused the instruction photos from the Christmas Version ( it has been overcast and rainy, and I didn’t want to post dim photos)

I reloaded the Valentine’s version onto this , so you could follow along with both if you liked!

12″ by 12″ piece of DSP

Trimmed to 8″ by8″

Keep a 3″ by 3″ piece of the DSP and cut a 2 3/4″ by 2 3/4″ square of Very Vanilla

Score the Very Vanilla piece at 3/4″ on each side, fold, snip at corners add glue dots and form inside of lid.

Add snail to DSP piece add sentiment piece cut from 2″ circle punch , layered onto a 2 1/2″ circle layer of Cherry Cobbler

Fold 8″ by 8″ piece in half, fold in half again in the other direction.

Fold corner to corner and brandish folds with bone folder. You will also want to fold corner to  corner  the opposite way to get an easier fold.

(Ps the DSP side you want to show should be facing up or out so you can see it)

Fold the corners in to form a square then turn so the opening faces you

Fold edge in and back to form a crease line to follow then fold the bottom of the left and right in to meet the crease

Fill over and repeat. When you’re done it should be the shape of a kite( see below)

Put your finger in the newly created fold and press open like a “squash fold”

You want the center of the squash fold to line up with the side of the kite( in a line)

Repeat on all four sides as above

You will then fold the edge of the flaps back in the other direction

Remember it will always match on all sides, that is how Origami folds work

On all four sides so they again match….

And once more it looks like a kite

The fold all four flaps up and brandish with bone folder

All four folder up (see below)

Put your fingers into the box and gently press open

And Voila!

You can gently curl the edges of the flaps with your bone folder to encourage them to go with the curve of the box and add adhesive to all four flap undersides if your going to attach them down

2016 End of Year Sale & Clearance, Blog Hop, Christmas, New 2016 Holiday Catalog!!, NEW 2016-17 Stampin' Up Catalog, New Years Eve, Retiring Products 2016, Stampin' Up

New Years Eve Blog hop, Stampin’ Up!

Hey Stampers! It’s hard to believe it is time to get started on New Years Eve planning. This card was so fun to make, and I think it will be SO well received ! It is so fun, and makes you want to POP some bubbly…..even if it’s sparkling cider 😉

This was so fun in fact, that I made three alternate versions! I also thought of this card as soon as the holiday catalog dropped into my hands. My first version was with the Fancy Frost sequins, but I was a little worried, they may sell out before this blog went live, so I thought of two other versions you could create instead. Or really in addition to, since some people don’t like making the same card over and over.

Also, as you all know , I send cards to all of my little friends for EVERY HOLIDAY, and I thought this would be a fun card to send to the parents instead. Especially since you will be getting a lot of holiday bills…..:-p and no one likes that. So more fun snail mail it is!!

The video below will much better explain how I got the partial cut on the champagne glass, plus give you the skinny on the three versions, so you can choose which to make!

I know it looks fancy, but I promise you it was quite simple and you will be so happy you tried it!

Until next time……Stay Crafty!

Hope you are having a wonderful beginning of December. We are prepping all of our Christmas funzies over here.  Lots of card prep, gift buying and wrapping, and of course cookie and cake eating :-D. I wanted to share this increadibly beautiful card with you today. This is a set that I really don’t think caught a lot of peoples eyes in the Holiday catalog, but its really one of my very favorites. Since it isn’t necessarily a Christmas card, I think it may slip past you. But it can be used for all of those WONDERFUL JANUARY BIRTHDAY people……you know, such as MYSELF 😉 We love to get wintery cards, and this is the perfect example. It is one I think you will love as well, because the watercolor aspect of the card, makes each one unique.
There are also lots of changes you can make with all of the stamps to make them unique to your recipient.

I hope you will give this set a second glance, also since it is on the retirement list and will be gone before you know it.

2016 End of Year Sale & Clearance, Christmas, New 2016 Holiday Catalog!!, Punches, Retiring Products 2016, Stampin' Up

Classic Label Punch Wreath card, Stampin’ Up!

Hey stampers! I wanted to share a quick card you could create for many people really easily for Christmas this year. You could really use any type of punch, and the bird builder punch is super fun if you still own it! Otherwise I thought the Classic Label punch was a great substitution. It gave the wreath a completely different feel, more like a country Christmas card! It is also a great use for all the little scrap pieces you may have lying around. Plus, it give you a way to show off BOTH sides of our DSP, or DSP stacks……what is better than that?

I also used the Cable Knit Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing folder to lay the wreath onto, and I think it makes the card so much softer. It will feel like a warm hug to anyone who is blessed enough to be on your Christmas card list.

Don’t forget, Stampin’ Up! has some great specials going on right now for the end of the year. The accessories will go quickly, so get them before they are gone.

It’s not too late to sign up for my Holiday Helper email list, you will get 13 project ideas for all of your Christmas gift giving needs. Just shoot me an email at Rachthestamper@gmail.com, and I will get it right out to you.

Blog Hop, Christmas, New 2016 Holiday Catalog!!, Shaker cards, Stampin' Up

Christmas blog hop, Stampin’ Up!

Hi Stampers! I am sending you all, love and cheery thoughts on this fun BLOG HOP DAY! If you haven’t had the chance to make a shaker card yet…….WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?!?!?!?! This has to be one of the most FUN cards I have created. It was a HUGE hit at my first Stampin’ Up! card party last week! Everyone really loved it, and lucky for them I had two versions they could make.  I had a few ladies who switched out to the Christmas Train from the Christmas Magic stamp set, and it turned out so beautifully. I will attach a picture at the bottom of this post. Also I started out with making this in more of a Winter color scheme, for two reasons, some people don’t do Christmas, and some people, like my friend Ronda always send their cards out late, so  you could transform this into a Happy Winter card instead , if you so choose:)

img_0670

Well, as always, this is explained much better visually , so check out the video below, or on my You Tube page: Rachthestamper.

To start, what you’ll want to do is choose your color scheme. I have Soft Sky backed onto Basic Gray card stock, with the images stamped in Black Staz-On onto Whisper White card stock. Or you can choose scheme two, which is Cherry Cobbler and Always Artichoke, same with the Staz-On, and Whisper White card stock. You could also switch out to Thick Whisper White card stock if you think you want to use the Aqua painter and make it more water-color like.

So after stamping your images onto a 4″ by 5 1/4″ piece of Whisper White card stock, you’ll want to color them in, and add in your snowflakes, blurred background, etc.

Then, on your window piece of card stock ( Soft Sky or Cherry Cobbler) place the largest scalloped square and run it through the big shot. If for any reason your images don’t show through the way you want them, you can trim up your Whisper White piece and realign them up.

Next, add some really good adhesive to the backside of the window, I suggest Fast Fuse for this, but Tear and Tape will work as well, and SNAIL as your last resort. You just don’t want the snow to escape. After adding the adhesive, trim out a piece of Window Sheet that will cover your entire hole, and press firmly to seal closed.

Add the Adhesive Strips to the inside edge of the Window Sheet. Make sure you add it to the low edge so it will not be seen. It will not matter how low, since your card still will shake the snow, so I added it near to, but not on the edge of the Window Sheet.

IMPORTANT!!! 🙂 Take the paper off of the adhesive strip, and then add the “snow” aka White Mica Flake ( you don’t need a lot) and then place your backing card stock onto the window part. I say important because one of my stamper friends FORGOT to add it, and then had to deconstruct, and reattach her card base ( Kind of a mess), and also if you flip your card, chances are all the snow will fall out and make a GIANT MESS!!

This is really a super wow card for all of the people who will be lucky enough to get one 🙂

Also below you’ll see the great Blog Hop prize we have up for grabs this time, just leave a comment, and #StampIt contest to be entered. One entry per person per blog.

Until next time…..Stay Crafty!!
