Hi Stampers!
This beautiful antique style Christmas card, was incredibly easy to create, and it can also be quickly transformed to be a winter card. It could even be a sympathy or thinking of you card ,with the change of a sentiment!
It was a card idea I had in my head, and then when I started stamping it, I didn’t love it. Then I had the thought to change it to an older, vintage postcard style of card, and the magic began.
I stamped the pine trees first in the background,onto a Very Vanilla panel by inking the stamp in Pear Pizzazz, stamping off once first, then stamped the image. I stamped the smaller reindeer in Crumb Cake, and finally the larger centerpiece Reindeer in Early Espresso. I filled in the bigger deer with a blender pen and the Early Espresso ink pad, and also used those tools to add shadowing to the deer for depth of field. I sponged the edges with Early Espresso as well, but I still was not completely satisfied with the look. So I ran a small clear block along the edge of the card stock to rough it up a bit and give an aged curl. I then used the flat side of the sponge dabbed lightly all over the front in Crumb Cake to finish the aged patina.
I am so thrilled with how this turned out, but it needed a touch of a red color to slightly brighten it, but not a bright red, so I turned to the Cherry Cobbler 1/4″ Double Stitched Ribbon to add a slight color pop. I added the ribbon to a piece of Be Merry DSP with bit of Snail Adhesive. I mounted the front panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals to give some height and visual interest. Then adhered them to a Garden Green card stock base.
I didn’t stop there, for the inside I added the Pine Boughs in Garden Green ink by stamping them first full ink, then again without reinking to fill in the negative space. I sponged the edges as well in Early Espresso, and added the sentiment in that same ink as well.
I finished the front of the card, with some tiny touches of Clear Wink of Stella. I thought it added a bit of wintery Christmas magic.

Base: Garden Green 4 1/4″ by 11″, score at 5 1/2″
DSP layer: 4″ by 5 /14″
Very Vanilla front: 3 1/2″ by 4 1/2″
Inside Very Vanilla panel: 4″ by 5 1/4″
So, what do you think? I am really pleased and think I may actually use this design as my family Christmas card…….well, until I get ahold of the 2017 Holiday Catalog I suppose 😉
