I was going for a very neutral color scheme for this card as I know lots of times we struggle for either a masculine card or a neutral card. I like to challenge myself to think out side the box as well, so I also used a sheet of DSP from the Animal Expedition to create my layers with.
I used all three of the beautiful framelits to create a bunch of layers to use on this card. I still have the smallest one that I could’ve added but I didn’t want to go too overboard.
I think the way this card is layered you cant tell which parts are the framelits, which in my opinion is cool. And if you wanted to take it a step further, you could also cut the flowers I colored in out the same way, interlayer them together and get two cards for one!!
Color Scheme:
Card Recipe:
Base Layer: Basic Gray 4 1/4″ by 11″ score at 5 1/2″
Layer: Smoky Slate 4″ by 5 1/4″
Layer under thinlits: Whisper White 3 3/4″ by 5″
Layer that was cut with thinlits: Animal Expedition DSP 3 3/4″ by 5″
Inside Layer: Whisper White 4′ by 5 1/4″
Using the big shot I layered all three of the thinlits down and held them in place with some Washi Tape. Once trimmed, I used the largest which is the 3 3/4″ by 5″ layer and the second largest layer for the front. I used the largest layer for the inside of the card.
I colored the leaves in with the Light then Dark Smokey Slate Stampin’ blends and then added a bit of light Old Olive stampin blend marker. I colored the flowers, starting at the center with Light Pumpkin Pie and Light and Dark Flirty Flamingo, then I added in some Light Calypso Coral and filled it all the way in with Light Pumpkin Pie.
I stamped the outside sentiment in Memento ink and I used the Stamparatus to create the inside of the card. I created a repeating sentiment with Grapefruit Grove ink and made it really stand out by adding one in Memento ink.
I just moved the base up and/or down 1/4″ and restamped the words….pretty cool, huh?
I also added a bit of Wink of Stella to the centers of the flowers and the layers from the die cuts….I think it gives it a tiny sparkle you’re really not expecting!
