Anything But the Holidays, Stampin’ Up!

WELCOME TO YOUR NEW HOME CARD

Hello stampers! This is a super fun style hop today, and this is my first “Outside the group” hop that I have ever done. I hope you like my design, it was fun to create. I always seem to look at the catalog in a different perspective, because I like my customers, downline and fellow stampers to get the most for their money with as many varied ideas as possible for a stamp set. I know a lot of people who simply do not purchase certain types of stamp sets, like Halloween or even Valentine’s Day for example because they feel they will never use them again. So I am happy to share this cute “Welcome to your new home ” card.

I tried to set the “New Home” apart by lighting up the windows and shining a light on it! I also thought adding in Garden Green trees would give lots of depth and filing to this actually quite simple card.

I cut several types of the houses, church and so on, and then layered them some flat, and some with Stampin’ Dimensionals to give much more of a “town on a hill” feeling.

Of course no card is complete, in my opinion anyway, without some Wink of Stella 😉

I would love to hear your ideas and thoughts on this cool card!

Until next time,

Stay Crafty!!

XO Rach

2017 Holiday Catalog, 2017-18 Stampin' Up! Annual catalog, Annual Catalog, Blog Hop, Edgelits, Embossing Folders, Fall & Autumn, Framelits, Masculine cards, Neutrals Collection, Regals Collection, Something Old & Something New, Stampin' Up

Fall Blog Hop, Stampin’ Up!

Hi stampers! Are you getting ready for back to school? Have your kids already gone back? Well then this hop is going to be right up your alley! Autumn and Fall are the theme to this months hop. If you come along you can almost smell the crisp air, feel the slight chill and maybe grab your favorite sweater and beverage of choice. Hey we can dream right!?!? It’ll be here before long 🍁🍂☕️

Measurements:

Card base: Thick Very Vanilla 4 1/4″ by 11″, score at 5 1/2″

Very Vanilla Scraps: used to stamp flowers, lights, pumpkins, sign, welcome mat

I cut the door portion from the Thick Very Vanilla panel and set the door aside. I then ran the top half with the missing door through the Big Shot using the Brick Wall embossing folder.

I added Cajun Craze ink to the bricks with a Stampin’ Sponge, I then went over it again with the Smoky Slate ink and a Stampin’ Sponge. I really love how it turned out. What about you? What would you change when you make it yours?

I decided to keep the garland even though they’re holly berries because when I colored them in they look very fall-esque.  Of course the sunflowers and pumpkins fit perfectly!

I think  dimensionals give so much life to a card, so I kinda went crazy with them here.

I added all the ink into the flowers etc. using the Blender Pens because they give much better control and hues on smaller pieces in my opinion.

I used Pumpkin Pie & Tangerine Tango inks for the pumpkins, Garden Green for the stems and flowerstems.

I used Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Real Red & Smoky Slate inks for the flowers.

I used Smoky Slate and a touch of Dapper Denim for the door, and Crushed Curry for the handle.

I used Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Garden Green, So Saffron & Cajun Crake inks for the garland.

I used Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron, Real Red, Soft Sky & Smoky Slate inks for the lights.

The mat is stamped in Archival Black ink onto Crumb Cake card stock.

I hope you have enjoyed this creation as much as I loved creating it!

I’d love to hear your thoughts and see your versions too:)

Be sure to follow all the way through the hop, so you have 11 chances to enter to win a super prize. You need to leave your FIRST and LAST name, a comment & #STAMPITCONTEST to be entered to win!

That’s it….. no purchase necessary to enter 🙂

Until next time,

Stay Crafty!

2017 Occasions catalog, Blog Hop, Brights Collection, DSP Designer Series Paper, Edgelits, Framelits, Fun Paper Boxes, NEW 2016-17 Stampin' Up Catalog, Something Old & Something New, Stampin' Up

Valentine’s blog hop, Stampin’ Up!

Hi stampers! Ok confession time…..I love chocolate, I love hearts, I LOVE love, but every year I struggle with making Valentine’s cards. I don’t exactly know why, I love giving cards, but these are the hardest for me to  create. I had a completely different card for this hop, one that  I was not exactly thrilled with, and I thought I cannot just give a ho hum card. So back to the room I went, and viola, I came up with two different cards, and a little treat box.

I hope you like them! The treat box instructions are from a prior blog post, so you can find the instructions there. The cards were both beautiful and quite easy, so I hope you’ll not be like Rach in this instance and give them a try, and maybe make your version even more beautiful.

So, I thought a framed look would work really well with the tree card, pretty enough to leave up for some time. I started with a Basic Black card stock base, then added layers of Real Red, and finally Whisper White.

I stamped the tree in Early Espresso, and did a few ink variations for the “leaves”, and added a Smoky Slate “grass” for the feeling that love makes everything better.

I used the four linked hearts from the Love Notes Framelits to add the sentiment.

Then, I really fell in love with the new Love Notes Framelits dies, so I really wanted to use them again. For that card, I went with a Thick Whisper White base, and thin strip of the Sending Love DSP stack, and the line of hearts cut from Whisper White.

I used a full 6×6 piece of DSP from the Sending Love DSP stack for the treat box, and adhered the flaps with Tombow liquid glue. It takes a bit to dry, but is well worth it on the adhesion.

Tree card:

Basic Black card stock for base 4 1/4″ by 11″, scored at 5 1/2″

Real Red layer 4″ by 5 1/4″

Whisper White later 3 3/4″ by 5″

Love card:

Thick Whisper White card stock for base 4 1/4″ by 11″, scored at 5 1/2″

Whisper White layer 4″ by 5 1/4″, with hearts line on far right to the edge

Sending Love DSP stack layer 5 1/4″ by 3/4″layered under the hearts

Well, tell me your thoughts….Do you love Valentine’s Day? Is it your favorite, and if so why? I’ll tell you I love writing this blog, and it is better when I hear from you!

Until next time, Stay Crafty!

Blog Hop, Brayering, Edgelits, Fall & Autumn, New 2016 Holiday Catalog!!, Stampin' Up

Stamp It Group Blog Hop, Stampin’ Up!

Hi stampers! Are you getting excited? Only a FEW short days until the NEW 2016 Holiday Catalog goes live for customers….September 1st to be exact 🙂 You are just not gonna believe all of the cute stamp sets, accessories, ribbon……my oh my, I could go on and on! I chose this fun set to create a Thanksgiving or Autumn themed card  to show just how versatile a lot of the different stamp sets are. I have many more great ideas for things you might not have thought of when you first saw the catalog. There will be ways to use stamp sets for completely different holidays than they were designed for too. So many ways to get a set, and stretch it to a whole new level….and Holiday 😉

This was a very simple card to make, I simply used the Sponge Brayer to create the sunset background for the card, and added layers from there. I sponged, or used the sponge daubers to give each layer another level of depth and feeling. One thing to keep in mind for the Halloween Scenes Edgelits is that you can use them as another whole layer to the card, or you can place them lower on the card stock you are cutting them from so you can layer them as I did below. You could also cut the tree out in Very Vanilla, and use sponges to add in some fall color, and almost make the bottom look like fallen leaves piled up. Another way to use the fence would be to layer it back a layer on top of one of the farther hills, add the tree in, and then add an additional fence in front. Just a few thoughts on how to change it up, of course you will love this as a Spooky Halloween tree as well 🙂

See the video below for the full how to, and you can always follow me on You Tube as Rachthestamper!

Make sure you follow this Blog Hop all the way through, leave a comment along with #Stampitcontest, and you will be entered to win the prize below. Remember you can enter one time on each persons blog, and there are links below that will take you to each one.

Thanks for stopping by for some fun F A L L inspiration……

Until next time, Stay Crafty!

Edgelits, Fun Paper Boxes, New 2016 Holiday Catalog!!, Regals Collection, Stampin' Up

A spooky fun Halloween treat box, Stampin’ Up!

Hi stampers! It’s getting closer to that fun time of year, when all the little ghoulies  & goblins come out looking for treats! I really LOVE Halloween, even more so now that I have a little to enjoy it with me 🙂 This box was an idea that I came up with , after thinking back on my grade school years in Catholic school. We had these boxes called Christmas Kits, maybe some of you had them too, with some really crazy and goofy stuff in them. The idea was you lugged this kit around, were able to show people samples of what was inside and then they placed and order, that you then had to deliver back to them. Honestly, it was a zany thing to do, since these things were H U G E, and being that we had more than one kid in school at a time, kind of unfair, since I am most sure we had to bring home two. I can imagine now as a parent how much of a thrill ( insert sarcasm here) it was to pull up to get your kid(s) and see these giant boxes of nonsense sitting on the curb with them. I am sure my mom was thrilled, but she never let on how much of a P I A they were 😉

So if you want to create this simple box, it’s best followed in the video below, but I will list the measurements as promised.

You’ll need a piece of 12 x 12 card stock, color of your choice.

I used Elegant Eggplant.

Trim the card stock down to about 6 1/2″.

Score along the landscape side at 1 1/2″, 5 3/4″, 7 1/4″ & 11 1/2″, turn to the portrait position, and score at 1 1/2″ & 5″. I ended up not liking the last score, so I cut it off, also you may notice I changed the last landscape score, since it was slightly off, and made my box a little off as will. I went back and fixed it. ALSO, I liked it so much, I made a Tangerine Tango version too. Pics are all below. It was really super fun to make and even more fun to decorate! You could also make this into ANY HOLIDAY you would like as well. I am definitely going to do a Christmas and maybe even Thanksgiving version.

Thanks for coming with me on this stroll down memory lane;)

Until next time…… Stay Crafty!!
